There’re 2 kinds of motorcycle handle bars. 1 is Tubular Handlebars. It’s the most common dirt bike handle bar. It can cover a good portion of handlebars that attach to the triple tree. The other one is Clip-on Handlebars. It come in two separate right and left bars, and attach directy to the fork tubes. These are covered in the next section.

 

To replace dirt bike handle bar

1 Take off any mirrors and bar end weights.

 

2 Gently remove the screws from the bottom of the left control housing while paying attention to the lengths of the screws. You will notice that the screws you remove are not the same. So when you install your new handle bar, you need to install all the screws in the right way.

 

3 Free the clutch lever perch and brake master cylinder.

4 Remove the throttle assembly. You’ll need to unscrew it and slide it off of the handlebar. If the throttle still will not slide off after it has been unscrewed, you might need to remove one of the throttle cables.

5 Remove all screws holding the handlebar riser cap.

To replace Clip-on Handlebars

Clip-on Handlebars generally are applied on the sport bikes. The replacement of Clip-on Handlebars is similar to the Tubular Handlebars, unless the last step: Use a socket wrench to remove the steering stem nut and lock washer then loosen the upper triple clamp pinch bolts, remove the upper part of the triple clamp. After it is off, loosen the handlebar pinch bolts, slide the handlebars off of where they are secured to the upper fork tube and open up the spot for some new clip-on Handlebars.
